On April 10, 2025, our client was driving through the intersection of Lee’s Summit Road and Anderson Drive in Lee’s Summit, Missouri, when another driver ran a stop sign and crashed head-on into her vehicle.
The collision was violent enough that emergency responders transported her by ambulance to the hospital. The investigating officer cited the other driver after determining they failed to stop before entering the intersection.
Severe Arm Injuries Required Months of Treatment
The crash caused devastating injuries to our client’s dominant right arm. She suffered fractures to both bones in her right wrist, a dislocated right elbow, ligament damage, and a significant knee injury.
Emergency physicians reduced her elbow dislocation before she was referred to an orthopedic specialist. During follow-up, doctors discovered that her elbow remained unstable and had either not been fully reduced or had dislocated again. She was sent back to the emergency room for additional treatment before beginning a lengthy course of recovery.
Over the following months, she underwent extensive orthopedic care, casting, advanced imaging, and occupational therapy. MRI studies confirmed ligament tears, and she ultimately completed 53 occupational therapy sessions in an effort to regain strength, mobility, and function in her dominant arm.
More Than Just Physical Injuries
At the time of the collision, our client had recently started a new job with a moving company. Because she is right-hand dominant, the injuries prevented her from performing the physical duties her job required and forced her to miss work during her recovery.
The effects extended well beyond employment.
Simple daily activities became painful and frustrating. She experienced ongoing numbness, swelling, limited mobility, and weakness in her arm and hand. She was also unable to enjoy one of her favorite hobbies—creating art—which had long been an important creative outlet.
The crash also took an emotional toll. As her recovery stretched over months, she experienced anxiety, depression, and uncertainty about her future. The physical limitations placed strain on her personal relationships and required mental health counseling as she worked through the trauma of the collision.
Resolution
This case wasn’t simply about broken bones—it was about the lasting impact a serious collision had on a young woman’s independence, career, and confidence in her future.
By documenting not only her extensive medical treatment but also the emotional challenges, loss of function, and disruption to her daily life, we were able to demonstrate the full extent of her damages.
