On February 15, 2025, our client was driving eastbound on Northeast Coronado Drive in Blue Springs, Missouri, when a commercial truck traveling beside her attempted to make a wide right turn from the left lane.
As the truck moved across the roadway, it entered our client’s lane and collided with her vehicle, violently jolting her inside the car. The Blue Springs Police Department investigated the crash and determined that the commercial truck driver was responsible due to an improper lane change. At the time, the driver was operating the truck in the course and scope of his employment.
Injuries That Became More Complex Over Time
Immediately following the collision, our client experienced neck and back pain, bruising to her legs, pain in both arms, and significant shoulder discomfort. Initial X-rays did not reveal an acute injury, and she began treatment with medication and physical therapy.
But her symptoms did not simply go away.
As her recovery continued, she developed persistent headaches, dizziness, brain fog, irritability, balance problems, nausea, visual disturbances, and radiating pain affecting her neck, back, shoulders, and legs. She was eventually diagnosed with post-concussion syndrome and chronic post-traumatic headaches and underwent occipital nerve blocks to help manage her symptoms.
Her treatment ultimately included over 80 physical therapy visits, neurological evaluation, orthopedic and pain-management care, advanced diagnostic imaging, occipital nerve blocks, and cervical facet joint injections. Specialists diagnosed conditions including a mild traumatic brain injury, cervical radiculopathy, post-concussion syndrome, and left shoulder impingement.
An MRI of her left shoulder also revealed subcoracoid impingement, tendinosis, and findings that could indicate capsulitis.
Impact on Her Daily Life
The collision affected much more than our client’s physical health.
Persistent pain reduced her strength, flexibility, balance, and ability to complete everyday activities. Dizziness, headaches, visual disturbances, and difficulty maintaining a stable gaze made tasks involving movement and visual tracking particularly challenging. Even checking her mirrors while driving could trigger symptoms.
She became less physically and socially active and experienced anxiety, depression, sleep disturbances, and a loss of confidence. Driving also became a source of anxiety, particularly when she encountered semi-trucks on the road.
